Floors, walls, trim and paint in Ambler

Ambler is a company town in the literal sense. After Keasbey & Mattison moved its works here in 1881, Richard Mattison brought in stoneworkers from southern Italy, and the company built some 400 houses for its workers and managers, along with a library, an opera house and Trinity Memorial Church. You can still see the company's hierarchy in the houses: workers' row houses, two-story workers' homes, larger supervisors' houses and Victorian executive homes with carriage houses. The borough covers less than a square mile, with about 8,000 people per square mile, and Butler Avenue runs through the middle of it.
